On two consecutive nights in February, the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting will present “Made in NY” Careers in Post-Production, panel discussions featuring members of New York City’s post-production community. On Monday, February 2, the discussion will focus on editing and color correction, and on Tuesday, February 3, the panel will focus on sound design. Both panels will take place at Deluxe New York in Manhattan. The panels are free and open to the public.

Post-production includes editing, color correction, sound mixing, digital effects, and soundtrack recording, activities that occur after the final scene of a film or TV show has been shot. The “Made in NY” Careers in Post-Production panels will provide the opportunity for students and interested New Yorkers to learn more about this dynamic field.

Commissioner Katherine Oliver will moderate the discussions, which will be followed by a Q&A session each night. Panelists include:

“Made in NY” Careers in Post-Production: Editing (Monday, February 2)

MIKE JACKMAN (Vice President and General Manager, Deluxe New York; formerly Post-Production Supervisor: Gangs of New York, The Aviator, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind)

THOMAS OSTUNI (Editor, Chinagraph NYC)

JACKIE TEJADA (Assistant Editor, Cadillac Records)

LENNY MASTANDREA (Colorist, Nice Shoes)

“Made in NY” Careers in Post-Production: Sound Design (Tuesday, February 3)

TOM FLEISHMAN (Sound Re-Recording Mixer: Brooklyn’s Finest, The Devil Wears Prada)

RON BOCHAR (Supervising Sound Editor: Doubt, You’ve Got Mail)

WINSTON PHILIP (Sound Designer)

“New York City is home to a thriving production industry, employing 100,000 New Yorkers and generating $5 billion to our economy each year,” Katherine Oliver, Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting said. “Our office is committed to attracting new production business and creating new jobs through the ‘Made in NY’ program. At the same time, we are working to ensure that a diverse group of New Yorkers have access to these positions through programs such as this panel and our ‘Made in NY’ Production Assistant Training Program - a series of free, full-time, month-long training programs developed with Brooklyn Workforce Innovations. We’ve also launched a new PSA campaign thanking New Yorkers for hosting production throughout the five boroughs.” For more information about these programs, visit http://www.nyc.gov/film
