Nice Shoes CD Aron Baxter has once again collaborated with design and animation studio Offspring, acting as VFX Supervisor on Ford’s Rant campaign (starring the voice of irreverent comedian Denis Leary), this time introducing the all-new 2011 Ford Super Duty truck. The trio of :30s follows the spirit of the previous Rant campaign, this time with dynamic live-action truck footage comped over backgrounds shot on location and treated through a telecine process, then decked out with bold typography. The spots feature dramatic black-and-white backdrops – set against fully colored trucks – that are tailored to appeal to the working-man ethic of the typical Super Duty customer: Benjamins shows a Ford rolling through the cranes and crates of a sprawling dockyard; Friend stars the truck plowing through a high-powered wind farm and past soaring mountains; Kumbaya tracks the vehicle speeding through a landscape of towering grain silos. Leary rattles off the truck’s various technical advantages – highest payload, towing power, horsepower, torque, and fuel economy – as the truck breezes past gas stations and effortlessly tows a 12-ton payloads. Along with Baxter’s supervision, additional Nice Shoes collaborators included VFX artist Jason Farber and VFX artist / partner Rich Schreck.
